Companion
Animal Association Happy Alumni - Manny 2008
Manny
came to the Companion Animal Association in December of 2007 from the
Animal Control center in Lafayette, Indiana. Below is the
letter we received from that site:

Subject: Please Help a Hard Luck Dog!
My name is Ashley and I'm on Animal Control officer in Lafayette
Indiana. For those of you who did not delete this email
PLEASE READ ON!!!! This is Manny (the photos attached, don't
worry it's not a virus)
Manny is in desperate need of help. He is a pit
bull/retriever mix, we think, who is currently being housed at the
Almost Home Humane Society. He ended up in this sad state
because he had an owner who didn't give two hoots about him.
They locked him up in a basement and moved away, leaving him for
dead. If the maintenance man hadn't found him, he
would have ended up like the dead kitten that was found alongside
him.
We are trying to find a way to save his life. He is a sweet
guy of about 7 yrs. He is emaciated and has ear infections,
eye infections, and dermatitis due to long time allergies that were
never ever treated. He has a wonderful, calm, kind
personality, and is such a loverboy. He loves a good scratch
or just a knee to rest his head on.
All of his conditions are very easily treatable and for the sweetest
boy in the world, there has to be someone out there with the time and
love to care for him until he is all well again. If you have
it in your heart and in your budget to take him or if you know anyone
willing to take on his case, or donate for his care, please let me know
ASAP. We really really want to save him; he is a survivor and
is such a good dog to boot, even after all he has been
through. Despite the cruelty of humans, a dog's capacity to
love is enormous.
Please forward this to everyone you know.
Please.
For Manny.
We care so much about him.
Please.

The Companion Animal Association took Manny in and cared form him. Many
employees at Delphi Automotive in Kokomo helped CAA by donating money
and a foster home in which he could fully recover and prepare for his
transition to a "Forever Home". In Feburary 2007, Manny was
adopted by a wonderful family in Lafayette.
The Companion Animal Assocation would like to thank everyone who
contributed toward Manny's care and well being. You can
really see what a difference that help made in Manny life.
Below is a note we have received from Manny's new family with
a recent picture of the happy boy.

Hello Everyone –
I thought you might enjoy a recent photo of Manny.
Manny is doing really well. He really enjoys being the "shop
dog" and hanging out at the hot rod shop. He likes to lay on
a bench by the front door…here's a shot of him today.
We're really enjoying Manny…he's a great dog. He
is also starting to get a bit more "fuzz" on his back – maybe
he'll get some hair back this summer. His gold fur has really
filled out and has gotten really soft – he has a beautiful
coat.
Most importantly, his gold coat goes well with his Purdue shirt (which
he will wear during the NCAA tourney)!
Thanks for all you did with Manny.
