About Us

The Companion Animal Association (CAA) was started in April 2005 with only four people and a great idea - to rescue and care for abandoned and abused animals while educating the community on responsible pet care.  The organization became incorporated and received its 501c3  not-for-profit status in January 2006.  The number of volunteers has steadily grown and the organization is now able to provide more services to the communities of north-central Indiana and to the homeless pets in our area.

While in the care of a CAA volunteer or approved foster family, pets learn basic obedience skills, become socialized in a family setting and have their photos posted on PetFinder.com, a global database for adoptable pets.  Sick, injured, or abused pets recuperate in foster homes until they are well enough to go to "forever homes".  Most importantly, adoptable pets that would have otherwise be euthanized or left to run wild and fend for themselves are saved and given a second chance at a wonderful life.

The Companion Animal Association was created for the animals!
